In high school I really liked a guy who I was pretty sure was gay, but when he agreed to be my boyfriend I thought I’d been wrong. Then he told me he was having a hard time choosing between “Candy Perfume Girl” by Madonna, or “Part of Your World” from the Little Mermaid soundtrack, as ‘our song.’ Somehow I was still surprised when he suddenly dumped me a few months after leaving for college.
